Glazing Trade Supplies

Glass windows have been around in one form or another for hundreds of years …. Invented by the Romans, glazed windows were brought to the mass market by the practical Germans who wasted no time securing their buildings with glass openings.    Then of course there are the grand stained glass windows in churches, many of which have been around for centuries. Fancy glazing is nothing new.

It has to be said, replacement windows and doors have come a long way since they first became big business in the UK more than 40 years ago.   Gone are the days when homeowners regularly had to fight off the archetypal salesmen who, having eyed up your property, was determined to sell you some double glazed casement windows.  Salesmen were employed to drive around the streets making a note of whose castle had not had the treatment.  Thankfully those days are a thing of the past.

On a domestic level, in the early days of casement windows, scant regard was paid to aesthetics.   ‘Picture window and Double glazing’ became the buzz words and windows with huge expanses of glass were fitted; whilst they did enable the sunlight to stream in and kept the cold out, sadly, often this was at the expense of style.

Fast forward to the 2020s and today we know better; here at GTS, we can do far better than that for our valued clients.  In addition to all the other benefits which replacement windows and doors afford to a property, we are all extremely aware of aesthetic treatments to properties both old and new.

In addition, manufacturing technology and advances in the products available also has a large part to play in this.  In 2021 no one would fit aluminium casement windows to a grand Victorian property; we can offer our customers, long lasting synthetic solutions which look the real thing and are in keeping with property style.   We can fit windows and doors which look just like the originals did 100 years ago.

Whilst it is true that in many cases the old and the new will sit comfortably side by side, at GTS, we take pride in offering our customers a full consultation service which will not only enhance their day to day life at home, it will also add value to your property;  a sound investment on every count.

Whatever style of property you live in, if the time has come to renew and replace windows and doors, you can rest assured that we will have the perfect solution for you.
